I also read Sir Alfs posts, but a bit disappointed to see the Manchester sides referred to in that way. WE are the first UNITED, other pretenders should be referred to in other ways

Just checked the offside rules and they are pretty clear. If a player is in an offside position and not in the eyeline of the keeper, as long as they dont make contact with the ball. They are oneside. It's Simple

Whenever Sir Alf posts, I feel compelled to read them in a Sir Alf Ramsay style. And you know what? It bloody well sounds as if the great man had actually spoken those words

Not a "told you so" post but many of us thought that we would struggle with these last 2 fixtures. It was good in some senses to temper expectations which had got out of hand. Aside from Southampton (although they have spent a lot via the Bale and other transfer money), the league positions correlate to the amount of money spent, over the last few years, and financial standing of a club. We are now spending more, with S & G in charge, and are seeing an improvement in position. Of course, there are exceptions like Liverpool this season but those exceptions get corrected over a season or two as more money is invested.
We should be looking for a top 8 position and that, for me, is as an excellent season and hopefully a decent cup run (although the draw has not been particularly helpful in that respect). Based on where we were 4 seasons ago it is excellent even with the improved investments being made.
Its all about step-by-step progress for us and most teams outside the top 5 or 6 spenders (Chelsea, City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool and hate to say it Spuds). We are making progress I think and that to me as a 55 year sufferer is good enough. I can count about 7 or 8 decent seasons in 55 so am easily satisfied maybe?
In terms of yesterday, we deserved a draw I think but it was thin margins and sometimes referee decisions go your way and sometimes not. Arsenal and other teams know we have scored the most goals via crosses and headers than any other team and they are now all working on limiting the supply. We missed Jenkinson too in that respect.
BFS is at a new point where he needs to think of other tactics and approaches or at least refine them a little or switch from one to another within games which no team likes. He needs to be prepared now to start Sakho and Valencia and use Zarate (yeah I know that may be a non starter) to provide something different for teams to think about. Like most, I suspect he will continue with the "Battering Ram" approach as his favoured option because it will garner points against some of the lesser sides.
Anyway, this WBA game is now very important to regain some momentum and it will be anything but easy. We could have easily have drawn or even lost to Leicester IMO had Adrian not been so good that day. So we need to be on top of our game yet again.

I thought we deserver a draw yesterday but surprised to Arsenal playing on the break and quite dogged in defence. Dispite us having nearly 60% possession and playing well, especialy in the first half,we only managed 4 shots on target the whole game. Still, im more than happy with the season so far. COYI

This is true.
In fact, until yesterday we hadn't played out fair share of last year's top teams and our league position was a bit flattering. Now we are halfway though the season and have played all the top sides once we have a true reflection of where we have progressed to.
Onwards and upwards!

Thought we deserved a draw and that we were unlucky with both decisions. BUT I am concerned with 2 things 1) AC seems to have a habit of winning the ball from clearances and knocking it on to a colleague and then think his job is done rather than sprinting to get in the box. Several times yesterday he was still halfway between the penalty area and the halfway line when we were putting balls into their area. 2) If we are to take Sakho off and bring on Valencia why then does he play left wing rather than as 2nd striker. AC was left with no partner to benefit from his knock one. I we have swapped Carroll for Valencia and used his and Sakho's pace against their slow defence in the 2nd half.

Amal was fantastic yesterday in my opinion. How he has to sit on the bench and watch Nolan lumber about is unreal.
There keeper made a difference today. Carroll loves a floated cross to attack and everybody though balls in the box would be their Achilles heel. But the keeper had a very high starting position and attacked everything.
Good performance that deserved a point

Spot on, Dancer son.
The fixture list has been pretty kind to us so far so let's hope we take advantage of it.

As said already. a disappointing display by 1 of the 3 greatest players in our history *winces*
But joking aside, I thought we put in a very good display and deserved a draw, but no more than that, Adrian was peppered in the second half. I saw a LOT of heart in the last 20 minutes, they left everything out there. I don't think anyone should really be slagging us off today.
We now have 3 winnable games coming up, of which the outcomes will probably dictate the rest of our season. Either way I do not expect BFS to be here next season.

FCJ I make you about right there. Song looked below par today, pressured into giving the ball away far too many times.
I still think on any other day and given the balance of play that's a draw, Arsenal got lucky today with a penalty and a soft goal. Had that early goal stood who knows. Still no point in dwelling we must press on!

Arsenal had Song worked out. They did a great job on him today. Every time he got the ball they had 2 or 3 players quickly close him down. It made him either get dispossessed or play a duff pass. Too many times he had nobody showing for a pass and he was complaining about it. For all the good play there was still a lot we could have done better. I don't remember their keeper being troubled much whereas Adrian pulled off a number of excellent reaction saves to keep us in it.

The are going to be the last team to beat us at the Boleyn and the first to beat us at the OS, aren't they?
(I'll take that if we've got them as our first home opposition in 2015-16, and the last in 2016-17...)

We played well today & lost narrowly to a very good Arsenal side, who appear to have the Indian sign over us at the moment. Play like that for the rest of the season & we will win more than we lose!
